Through the construction of an extensive trail system and additional parks, Precinct 4 is creating connectivity along Cypress Creek and Little Cypress Creek. The future Cypress Creek Greenway will connect a series of parks that will stretch from west of Hwy. 290 to the east where it will connect with the Spring Creek Greenway at Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center near Hwy. 59. As will the Spring Creek Greenway, this greenway will create natural floodplain buffer zones, contiguous trail connectivity, and linear wildlife habitat.
Currently, Precinct 4 is planning trail development that will connect Meyer Park and Collins Park. A $10,000 grant from Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) to the Cypress Creek Flood Control Coalition (CCFCC) helped fund this section of the development, which will be the first completed piece of the Cypress Creek Greenway.
Precinct 4 is looking at potential connectivity of mountain bike trails going east out of Collins Park over Spring Gully and into property owned by Harris County Flood Control District near T.C. Jester Road. The entire right-of-way is currently owned in fee by the Harris County Flood Control District.
Precinct 4 is also working with local leaders to set aside property once owned by Hewlett-Packard and now owned by V&W Partners LTD.
The Harris County Flood Control District, Charter Development Partners, and Precinct 4 are working together towards land tract purchases and donations of floodplain property to form linear connectivity on the lower end of Cypress Creek.
Plans for the first Precinct 4 equestrian trails will run along lower Cypress Creek to Spring Creek, connecting the Cypress Creek Greenway with the Spring Creek Greenway. Las conexiones futuras a lo largo de Turkey Creek proporcionarán un enlace con el espacio verde, para los jinetes registrados para cabalgar en los senderos Airport Ranger Rider Trails, del Bush Intercontinental Airport.
